Here I am -- on my 29th week of pregnancy. Eyes are a little bit smaller to make room for the extra cheeks.
On my way home from Christmas shopping this morning, I was going to pick up lunch for me and Tam at Bukhara. Lo and Behold -- a Kids R Us closing out sale at Beach Boulevard. You know me. I'm superstitious. I'm afraid to have tangible evidence of my excited ness so I try not to buy anything for the baby just yet. But I thought they might have some good baby furniture. Well, I didn't even get to the baby furniture, I stopped at the infant section and was stuck there for about an hour.
But they were so cute ... I picked up about 10 of these and they're just about $5-10 each. So if you

want to go shopping between now and end of January, go to Kids R Us on Beach Blvd and Edinger in Huntington Beach.
Wouldn't it be funny if it turned out to be a boy since I bought all these girl stuff?
I also picked up one those Prenatal Sound System. It allows you to listen to the baby's heartbeat, talk (?) to the baby through a microphone or allow the baby to listen to music through a CD hookup. Here's the link to the description:

I thought Tam's family would get a kick out of hearing the heartbeat since this is the first baby in their immediate family. Well, I can't hear the heartbeat so that's one out of three. It doesn't work!
I'll still use it to play music for the baby though. It comes with a Mozart CD. There is no scientific proof of it yet but some doctors claim that it's good for the baby's brain development to hear music.
Since I'm on vacation until the New Year, I had a chance to pick up two new books. If you're expecting, check it out when (well, mostly IF) you get a chance:
-
What to Eat When You're Expecting by Arlene Eisenberg
So far, I don't like this book too much but there are some cool recipes on the back.
-
What to Expect When You're Expecting by Heidi Murkoff
Great book. Recommended by all my friends to me.
On baby health news ...
The baby is now about 3 lbs. and 14 inches long from head to toe. They said the kicks will lessen now because there is less room to move around. This is certainly not true with me. Tam finally saw my belly move. When I lay down in bed and change my position, the baby seems to be adjusting along with me and it moves quite a lot. So Tam waited and saw the little bumps that form on the surface of my belly when the baby moves. Here are my tricks to make the baby move: change position while laying in bed, drink cold water, push down on your lower abs (don't do this too much ... it's kinda mean .. FUN ... but mean ... hehe).
Another thing no one mentioned to me that will happen while I'm pregnant is getting a "Charlie Horse" (as Tam called it) in the middle of the night. It's when my calf muscles gets pinched and it hurts so much I have to scream thus waking up Tam who has no choice but to frantically rub my calves. It hurts me more but I don't have the heart to tell him that -- he looks so panicked every time (maybe I should stop screaming :-)). When I wake up, I have a really tough time walking it off. This is no fun at all! No one ever warned me about these!
I received a flu shot two weeks ago but that didn't stop me from getting a cold. Just lucky I guess. So, I've been spending a lot of time taking afternoon power naps. My daily schedule while I'm on vacation is to wake up, do chores for about 2 hours, eat, sleep, wake-up, watch a little TV, eat, get on the computer, sleep. Hehe. Somewhere in there, I have to fit in some walking exercises. :-)
