I thought I'd update you guys on how I'm doing. Last time Manam saw me I was passed out in bed and I'm sure all of you have heard now that I've been hydrated at the hospital this week. I thought I'd just update everybody once in awhile so nobody worries.

I'm at Week 9. I thought I'd love every minute of pregnancy but it's pretty difficult. Everything makes me nauseous. Let's just put it this way ... some guy was drinking coke about 8 feet from me yesterday and it was making me puke. I can smell coke! Can you believe that? It's not a strong smell but I can smell it. A few words of advice -- if there's a pregnant lady at your work place -- don't ever microwave popcorn!!! That smell lasts for hours! It lingers in the air, sticks to the walls, bounces

back and forth from office to office and finally jams itself into a pregnant lady's nostrils! A bit of an exaggeration but then again ... IS IT?!?!?!?!?!

God bless the man who invented Phenergan. My doctor prescribed this to me. I can still smell everything but at least I don't get nauseous as much.

I only spend less than 5 minutes hugging the toilet bowl in the mornings now. Big improvement! I sleep somewhere between 9-12 hours a night which is a big change for me considering I used to only need somewhere between 4-6 hours. I've lost 5 lbs but I heard it's perfectly normal at this stage. My uterus is the size of a grapefruit now! Wow! Tam and I are amazed everyday. I can't wait for actual signs of life inside me -- just to tell me that this is all worth it. I find myself rubbing my stomach a lot -- weird habit I'm starting to develop :-) There are times I forget I'm pregnant. I can't tell you how many times I made myself coffee in the morning when I arrive at work. Ginger tea! That's what I drink instead! eck! I read somewhere that ginger is a natural cure for nausea -- so far, I don't believe it! I mainly eat egg bread with nothing on it and shrimps. Oh how I miss Indian food, Sushi and Charo Chicken! As soon as I'm able to -- off to Bukhara I go!!!

The discomfort makes me cry sometimes and I wonder how my sister, my mom and my friends ever went through this. Maybe I'm just a big baby :-(

So, all is well with me as far as the pregnancy. Manam brings me food almost everyday and Tam keeps my supply of egg bread, fudgcicles and fruits plentiful. He also now tucks me in at night and wakes up in the middle just to make sure I get enough air circulation and to see if the temperature is perfect. Of course I drive him crazy with my incessant complaints of the temperature being too high or being too low.

My mom predicts I'm going to have a girl but it might be wishful thinking on her part. She wants a granddaughter since she already has two grandsons. I have to say --- I'm starting to like the idea of a baby girl myself :-) I'm looking forward to the end of my first trimester on August 28. I heard the morning sickness will start to subside then.

In the meantime, I hope everybody is doing well and keep sending happy thoughts our way. :-)
